The Gazebo 6 Pacific Mirador, a structure located at the Costanta and that have been put to no use so far since its construction, about eight years ago, was transferred by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) to the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura).

At an event at these locations, the MOP holder, Rafael Sabonge and his MiCultura counterpart, Carlos Aguilar Navarro signed an Act of Transfer of the structure to be occupied by the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC).

The Minister Aguilar Navarro emphasized that with this handover an idea was put into effect that was given up almost from the beginning of the administration of President Laurentino Cortizo and that the Board of Directors of the Museum of Contemporary Art expressed an interest in "giving life to this public space" located at the Costar Taint that receives thousands of visitors.

To come forward, MiCultura's minister said that this is an opportunity for thousands of "families with their children to come here and appreciate the contemporary art and collection that MAC has that will be available to the public."

The use of the architecture to install the Museum of Contemporary Art is "part of the democratization of culture" and MiCultura recognizes the contribution of this private museum so that "public have an opportunity to exercise their cultural rights."

Mr. Aguilar Navarro emphasized that this success was due to the decision of the President of the Republic that had fulfilled one of his promises to create the Ministry of Culture that gave the sector an opportunity to be represented at the Cabinet Board from where it had been allowed to have direct contact with, but with other ministries.

For his part, Minister Sabonge emphasized that this is a private public initiative, so that once the transfer takes place and that the MAC will make "important investments" will be part of the legacy "of the administration of the current MiCultura administration.
