The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), through the Cinema Section, incorporates new festivals, film samples, workshops and a project laboratory from Central America and the Caribbean as part of projects to promote, support and promote the development of the film industry in Panama.

The strategies to re-activate industry in Panama have been put into place to give impetus to the 15 projects selected during last March's call.

The Panama Horor Films, the Chiriquí Methoo Fest's Cortometrics Festival, the Jumara International Indigenous Cinema Festival in Panama, the School of Spectors and an Afro film sample at Colón, join with the alignment of film events that will be held as part of the Fondo Cine.

The first Laboratory for the Development of Cinematographic Projects from Central America and the Caribbean, first studio residence in Panama and cinema at San Miguelito and the Documentaria de Ioficador are among the new initiatives.

Also, support will be given to the Panama International Film Festival (IFF Panama), the Hayah International Cortometrics Festival, the Actipadoc International Documentary Festival, the Poor Panand Film Festival, the Icaro Festival, the GECU Training Workshop (Experimental University Cinema Group), the Panama Animation and the Bannabá Fest International Human Rights Festival.

MiCultura, after receiving projects from representatives of film festivals and film and audiovisual and audiovisual professionals, selected from technical and feasibility considerations the projects that will be supported with the conditioning that their respective expenditure report should give and complete their work this year.

With this type of initiatives, we highlight film development by training Panamanian talent in different areas and by meeting the aims of the State with regard to cultural, social, tourism and economic recovery, and cinema is a tool of transformation and a means of transferring cultural models.

DICINE also grants funds to the industry for production of cinematographic works through the Fondo Cine National Competition that takes place every year.
