Approximately seventy students from the provinces of Veraguas and Herrera participate in projects advanced by the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) called "Folk Violin" and "Seeding of mejorana" that have been developing since April.

The project "Folkloric Violin" consists of giving to the youth participants the teachings that will allow them to run an instrument that forms part of our folkloric as the violin and the mejorana, explain the well-known foldlorist and master José Augusto Broce, who is the instructor.

At The Herrera Pozo, Rio De Jesús and at La Mesa de Veraguas, about 40 students participate in the violin course while at mejorana some 26 students participate.

The well-known folloclist José Augusto Broce, an instructor at MiCultura, explained that the course will be published copies of the Methodological Guide for the Teaching of mejorana and Violín as well as tutorials videos, to found a mejorana and violin schools in the above mentioned provinces.

The free course will have a duration of 12 months and during this time My Culture provided tools as a loan to the students.

The mejorana is the Panamanian national instrument that is used to accompany the singing of the 10th and so there's an urgent need to create schools that teach young Panamanian people how to preserve traditions that are part of national identity.
