María Eugenia Herrera is a dedicated dance artist, a defender of cultural rights, an educator and an art promoter.

Graduate at high management from the University of San Francisco, USA and graduate from Panama's National School of Dance, she has drawn an outstanding course as a producer, artistic director and dancer, specializing in Classic Ballet, Modern Ballet and Folklore.

Since his incorporation into the National Ballet of Panama with his quick rise to First Solist and later to Main Baller, he became a prominent figure in the world of ballet, both on stage and his role as a mentor and director.

At the international level, she has been dedicated as an ambassador of culture, distinguishing the country from prestigious scenarios and strengthening her reputation as a world-class dancer.

Her career at the dance catapuló her as Director of the National Ballet of Panama and her dedicated to teaching and promoting art motivated her to have found the Association for Dance Panama, the Youth Ballet School and Ballet Academy inspiring new generations of youth, built on their philosophy of life where "dreams are achieved with constancy, passion and discipline. "

Between 2009 and 2014, she served as Director of the National Institute of Culture (INAC) and was recognized for his vision of exaltar and place his art at his own siege, and managed the creation of the City of the Arts, and advanced the maintenance of historic heritage as an engine of development and identity, and established the remembered "Blue Summer" and the "Theater under the Stars," and undertook concrete actions to advance cultural policies and put it into place as a key leader in the promotion and development of Panama's culture.

Since 1 July 2024, she has been a Minister of Culture focused on the mission of passing to action with a firm step, to consolidate institutional, to professionalize talent, to achieve recognition of art as a heritage value, to empower the entrepreneurship of creative industries, to promote and preserve the national identity and cultural wealth of Panamanian people.
