A cultural complex that you can visit

To give a space to the Panamanian writer so that he can explain his literary works as well as to provide a welcoming place for the display and sale of his books, is the goal of the creation of "The House of Writer," a library run by the Cultural Rights and Citizenship Section of the Ministry of Culture, that first opened its doors on October 5, 2017.

Currently, this cultural complex is a welcoming place, situated within the facilities of the Convent Santo Domingo at third street, San Felipe, next to the Religious Art Museum, where the visitor will be able to find the editions of the works that have been awarded at the literary contest organized by MiCultura.

These are: the National Prize for Literature Ricardo Miró, The Poetry Award, Young Gustavo Batista Cedeño, The National Prize for Children and Youth Literature Carlos Francisco Changmarín and The Medium Chicken Award.

For Enrique Noel, director of Cultural Rights and Citizenship, "it's important to come and visit the" House of Writer "because it allows citizens and foreigners to get to know his or her country through his or her literature.

"Literature is part of our national identity through it we know about our past and we portray our struggles, aspirations and suffering as a space for the promotion of cultural rights and collective and national memory."

The Writer's House is an area that promotes the possibility that authors will continue to create as the public buys their products. "It's also part of what we call today's creative economy as it contributes to the development of the publishing industry and that some day writers can live from their art," Noel added.

Further, this place also includes books with different Panamanian writers with outstanding genres of novel, poetry, essay, tale, theater, folklore and themes of motivation and personal survival. The prices of the works range from B / .1.50 to B / .39.00. balboas.

"Memories and Imagines of Identity and Race in Panama 19th and 20th centuries" by Patricia Pizzurno and "African Presence in the Speech of Panama: A Social and Linguistic Study of Colonial Black" by Porfirio Sánchez Fuentes and "Men Loaned" by Javier Stanziola and "The Work and Days on the Canal" by Víctor Manuel Rodriguez and "Psychological Autopsy" by Manuel Paz Batista are part of his best works.

The library, currently run by the Cultural Rights and Citizenship and is open to the public from Monday to Friday from 8: 00 a.m. to 4: 00 p.m. and is at the disposal of all national authors to serve as a bridge for the promotion of their works.
