Gremia collective management organisations meet with MiCultura

The representatives of the board of directors of PRODACE (Panamanian Association of Fhonographic Producers) and PANAIE (Association of artists, interpreters and performers) interacted with the Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro and his work team to build alliances in the copyright process and to evaluate strategies that will be worked out jointly with the economic recovery of creative and cultural industries.

Yesenia Sánchez, Director of Special Projects at the Inter-American Development Bank (BID), Marú Galvez, Director of Creative Economics and Enrique Noel Director of Cultural Rights and Citizenship, have been giving these people an account of the entity, initiatives, advances and projects that have been undertaken by the institution during 2020.

Carlos Aguilar Navarro, Minister of Culture and the team of directors, as part of his national government's economic recovery actions, supports the construction of alliances and bridges to improve management and interchange and co-operation.

"We are here to answer concerns from artists and to discuss with them and to give an overview of what we have been able to achieve by 2020, despite the pandemic. We are happy to have the support of these associations, to improve the level of work and to train the officials of copyright management," stated Minister Aguilar Navarro.

The president of PRODACE, Elsa Vázquez, stated: "We are very pleased and grateful that they have received us. We have come to meet with MiCultura to get closer to the link with anything that has to do with creative industries and with respect for copyright and the commitment that users have to have with artists. They have good projections at MiCultura with accountability. They are filled with challenges and challenges and have an ambitious projection to benefit culture in Panama," she emphasized.

Grettel Garibaldi, PANAIE's Secretary, commented: "That kind of meeting leads to growing and contributing, we all have many things to learn and the opening is very important I'm very grateful with god to dedicated myself to good arts and have partners and people who have the willingness to move forward."

Norma Bueno, Director General of Production and Panaie emphasized that "with this accountability, the Ministry of Culture shows us the work of the ministry and so we have our support, we want to make communication alliances, training copyright personnel in some technical matters, providing information material from the collective management society, re-performing inspections, bringing them to schools and giving visualization to the office. A creator needs his work to be protected, we are here to continue to work with the transformation of the National Copyright Directorate."

The Minister called on them to be part of the program, Sumate Ya, a register that allows actors from the creative and cultural industries to have access to all the courses and programs offered by the Ministry of Culture.

The meeting was attended by Samy Sandoval, Any Tvar, Gretel Garibaldi, Elsa Vásquez, Víctor Bernal, Norma Buendía, Jordy Santos and Lloyd Gaglimore, while Carmen Alfano, who accompanied them from the Zoom platform.
