Alyna Ortiz, an American youth living in North Carolina, travelled to Panama to participate in the dance classes of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) called "One step at a time," as well as the well-known Jovana Velarde and Aldrid Castillo dancers from social networks.
The "One step at a time" classes have been able to capture a weekly audience, both national and international, that learns in each episode broadcast on the Youtube Canal and Instagram networks of the cultural entity, several steps of Latino dances in an ameno theoretical-practical format.
Since last year, the American youth have been closely following every issue of the segment, which motivated her to travel to the country and visit them to get to know more about this program of the ministry.
"with the Jovana and Aldrid teachers, I found a fun that became a great distraction and admiration during this pandemic. I'm a Panamanian mother and a Puerto Rican father, I love the salsa and at the first opportunity I had to travel, I came to the ministry to meet the educators," said the young dancer.
On this issue, the educator Jovana Velarde, the visit of Alyna Ortiz, filled with motivation and with great meaning, because of the passion we feel, both Aldrid and I for the salsa. To know that our work has passed through boundaries filled us with emotion, calls us to work more and fulfill the dreams we can through these dance capsules.
Since March 20, 2020, the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), as part of the National Government's strategy to provide the population with a cultural alternative amidst the crisis generated by COVID19, produces a number of artistic and cultural contents that cover from concerts, performing arts, cinema, literary workshops, dialogues, dance, folkloric dances and Latin rhythms in the MiCultura format at Casa.
