MiCultura tours to artisan centers

On the occasion of International Crafts Day, the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), through the National Handicrafts and Regional Coordination of Western Panama, undertook a visit to the different crafts centers located at the communal boards and commercial centers of the Arraijan District.

The actions that have been promoting economic recovery in the district since its artisan activity have been part of the implementation of the National Government's Colmena Plan and are intended to be an accompaniment to an original group of gunas and artists and artisan from rural communities, who have been able to sell their products from mini-fairs and jobs of artisan products.

The accreditation sessions are also held for artisans dedicated to the production of consumer crafts such as breads, chichenes and preserves as well as ceramics, paintings and traditional clothing accessories as moils and typical accessories, characteristic of our folklore.

The tour was attended by Isidora Yañez, Regional Director of West Panama, Jaime Luna, National Director of Crafts and David Cáceres, from the Cultural Rights and Citizenship Section, and includes visits to the mini fairs at the different points of sale of the district and courtesy of a room at the Arraijan Municipal Council to explain the details and organization of the accreditation day to be held in the communities of Arraijan (Cancha San Nicolás de Baria), Burunga (Cancha de El Chorrojan (March 25) and Veracruz (March 26).

The International Day of the Artisan, according to Act 11 of 22 February 2011, takes place every year on March 19 and coincides with St. Joseph's Day in the Catholic religion.
