Representatives of Kuna Yala District Reunited with the Deputy Minister of Culture

The Deputy Minister of Culture, Gabriel González met with representatives of 49 communities of the Guna Yala region with a view to discussing a number of proposals for economic growth in this region and the possibility of creating a framework convention for cultural cooperation between both parties.

During the meeting, representatives of these communities propose to the cultural authority, the creation of a leadership of indigenous affairs within the ministry, the construction of an artisan market as well as the initiative for the creation of the Nagua Museum.

The guests were interested to be participants in the programs of the Colmena Plan, such as the spaces of reading in the community, accreditation of artisan, acquisition of equipment and tools to manufacture their products. In addition to the presence of MiCultura at the artisan fair, on May 14 in the local area.

The Deputy Minister of Culture, González expressed his pleasure with working with all groups and emphasized the importance of ensuring inclusive culture by supporting vulnerable groups, people of African descent and indigenous peoples.

Gabriel González, Vice-Minister of Culture, Cultural Rights and Citizenship, National Handicrafts and the Office of Equal Treatment, was represented and appointed by the Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro, to meet all the needs of these groups.

Aiban Velarde, deputy director of Cultural Rights and Citizenship of MiCultura, who, with the invitation of representatives, will be performing a tour at the Naranjo Grande in the sector of Cartí at Guna Yala.
