Panama, June 28, 2026. - Three events that intertwined the Central American plastic, the historic memory of the hemisphere and international music celebrated the historic commemoration in the capital. In a display of cultural diplomacy and artistic expression, the City of the Arts became the epicentre of a cultural day amidst the commemorative events of the Bicentennial of the Anfictionic Congress of Panama.

The Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with international agencies and diplomatic delegations, presented a trilogy of high profile events that reaffirmed the ideals of unity, dialogue and American fraternity inspired by Liberador Simón Bolívar in 1826.

"Building Puentes through Art": Fraternity between El Salvador and Panama was the first event of the day with the opening of the pictorial show entitled "El Salvador and Panama: Building bridges through art as part of the Bicentennial of the Anfictionic Congress." That collective exhibition, coordinated by the Embassy of El Salvador, brings together a total of 19 works that reflect the constant evolution of Salvadoran contemporary art.

The centre of the exhibition is composed of twelve pieces by the well-known master Boris Ciudad Real, whose aesthetic proposal deepens social issues such as migration, poverty, the impact of violence on despondent children and the urgency of environmental awareness.

The visual tour is enriched by an intergenerational dialogue with the proposals of six other outstanding Salvadoran painters: Antonio Bonilla, Óscar Soles, Mauricio Mejía, Julio Hernández, Dagoberto Nolasco and Augusto Crespin. The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge for a full month.
The exhibition was later opened "Back to Panama: art, memory and diplomacy at the Bicentennial of the Anfictionic Congress," a joint initiative that unites the collections of the OAS Museum of Art of the Americas (AMA) and the Panama Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC Panama), enabling the works of great Panamanian teachers to come back symbolically to their native soil.

The show puts forward a historic, aesthetic and cultural dialogue between the two apes. On the one hand, we highlight the strong historic presence that Panamanian artists from the 1970s and 1980's - such as Alberto Dutary, Guillermo Trujillo, Alfredo Sinclair, Julio Zachrisson, Trixie Briceño, Nessim Bassan, Olga Sinclair, Tabo Toral, Brooke Alfaro and Susana Arias - held on international stage throughout the OAS. On the other hand, we have a dialogue with contemporary pieces of the MAC of creators such as Giana De Dier, José Castlera, and Reza, who have been interested in his memory and his name and his name.

That vital show will be available to the national and international public until 3 December 2026.And to close up, the Herbert De Castro Auditorium was dressed as a gala to receive the recital "Greece in poetry and music." Organized by the Greek Embassy, the concert was starring the Greek contrast and Cultural Ambassador of his country, Alexandra Graves, who was accompanied by Venezuelan teacher and director Aura Marina Rios Vielma.

The program included musicalized poems from Greek poets Odysseas Elytis, Yorgos Seferi and Constantine Cavafis, under the compositions of legendary Mikis Theodorakis.

The artistic offer was complemented by a ballet gala from the American company The Washington Ballet. The dancers performed an unpublished choreography of Metamorphosis, a piece by an Italian choreographer Mimmo Miccolis with the support of the Embassy of Italy.

Authorities of the National Government, OAS, members of the diplomatic body accredited to Panama and special guests attended.
