MiCultura continues accountability process

The Ministry of Culture continues to conduct accountability meetings with trade unions, associations and trade unions of artists as well as local journalists to show the results of projects undertaken during 2020.

Among the projects to be undertaken by 2021, Minister Carlos Aguilar Navarro reported that the complete restoration of the Museo Anthropológica Reina Torres de Araúz as an element of the historic architecture of San Lorenzo, Chagres District, Colón Province and jobs to assist with the Qzx11qQ Customs Building as an element of the historic architecture of Portobelo to safeguard its authenticity and integrity and to ensure that its role within the Qzx11qQ community as a place of reception are among the priorities of the institution.

"We have initiated operations of the Center for Historical, Anthropological and Cultural Research (CIHAC AIP), which met one of the aims of the Ministry of Culture to have found a centre that will be the research arm in these areas of knowledge and support the MiCultura Directions in their functions," the Minister says.

MiCultura has plans to start the restoration work of Abel Bravo College to become a centre of creative and cultural industries that benefits Colón entrepreneurs.

The restoration of the Museum of Obaldía in Chiriquí and the construction of the Cultural Center of Changuinola and the restoration of the Cultural Center of Artes and Folclor of Santiago and David and the construction of the Cultural Centre Anel Omar Rodriguez of Aguadulce and the repairs of the National Institute of Music (Conservatory) are currently being developed.

The completion of the City of the Arts is also a priority, with an advance of 60.4% at its constructive stage.

"When the pandemic came to Panama in March last year we had to redefine actions and prioritize to fulfill the Plan of Government and as a step, to re-invent formats amidst a situation that has definitely affected us all. The management of the ministry has been very focused on achieving the goals put forward with regard to cultural matters in Panama. Indeed, culture has shown in this situation all that can bring about to mankind, to human beings and to society at large. We were by very good means and somehow this pandemic has opened our eyes to us to realize that we have to re-define them and to do them in a different way if we are to follow this planet or if we are to have to have to do so."
