Advance restoration of the Bugaba railway

The work of recovering the railway station in Bugaba, which will be transformed into a museum with the support of the Ministry of Culture, advanced with firm steps, stated Mayor Rafael Quintero, who reported that they are also restoring their cars and locomotives.

The mayor expressed that this great initiative was a longing for the people of Moldova more than 40 years old. It was an abandoned work that, thanks to local management, the continuous interest and collaboration of MiCultura, as well as the Municipal Council and the decentralization team, was being rescued as a project that will be a display of tourism, culture and education for all Panamanian and foreign visitors, quintero stated.

For his part, Carlos Aguilar Navarro, Minister of Culture, expressed his gratitude for his efforts to conduct this work and emphasized that with the creation of the cultural centre and the museum a sense of identity, belonging and self-esteem will be generated through cultural and tourist activity as well as the rescue of our heritage.

"Through this kind of initiatives that we as a national government have been supporting from the start, we are helping to grow generations of new citizens with a different vision of national culture and identity so that they can share knowledge and experiences with the local and foreign community that visits us to the country," added the Minister.

The train of Chiriquí was inaugurated on April 22, 1916 by President Belisario Porras with a total area of 92,517 km. Currently, jobs have been undertaken to restore spaces to turn its place into a Cultural Centre, including a museum, for the benefit of the community and to promote cultural tourism of the region.
