National Government distributes 2.2 million to winners of MysCULture Cinema Fund

The National Government, through the Ministry of Culture, will distribute 2.2 million balboas corresponding to the Fondo Cine competition that called for the National Cinema Directorate.
In this respect, Minister Carlos Aguilar Navarro explained that the institution will distribute the funds to the winners of this contest, in which they will be dedicated 1,8 million balboas to projects with feature films of fiction and animation, 300 thousand balboas in the category of documentaries, 75 thousand balboas in the category of after production and 45 thousand balboas in the category of project development, and that will allow them to conduct their film production.
"Amid the difficult situation of the COVID 19 pandemic, the National Government decided to conduct the contest, because of its transcendence and new opportunities to create Panamanian cinema, thus promoting the work of directors, producers, writers and other members of the national film industry," stated Aguilar Navarro.
The National Film Director of the Ministry of Culture (DICINE), Sheila González, made an official announcement of the 13 winners of the Fondo Cine 2020 National Competition.
He also reported that the qualifying jury was composed by Diego Dubcovsky (Argentina), Patricia Martin (Argentina), María Teresa Uga (Peru), Rosa Natalia Cabral (Dominican Republic), Wolney Oliveira (Brazil), María Rossana Schembori (Paraguay), Jorge Franco Ramos (Colombia), Gerardo Chijona (Cuba), Manuel García (Argentina), who evaluated 94 participating projects, as established by the National Film and Audiovisual Research Research Section (DIINN) of the Ministry of Culture.
It should be noted that the qualifying Jury acted at all times with complete autonomy and independence in its deliberations and decisions, added DICINE's director.
