The announcement of a Central American Plan of Indigenous Languages and Inclusive Education Forum closes regular meeting of CECC-SICA

Panama, 11 December 2025. - For two days the Central American Educational and Cultural Coordination of the Central American Integration System (CECC- SICA) met in Panama where the ministers of culture and education of Panama, María Eugenia Herrera and Lucy Molinar, gave up the Pro Tempore presidency to the Dominican Republic and final reports were given about their work during the last 6 months.
At the meeting, on the last day of its meeting, the Executive Secretary, Roberto M. Suárez, detailed the projects run, the strategic partnerships with international agencies such as UNESCO and CAF, cooperation projects, agreements, financing and support for educational and cultural policies, among others.
The Central American Plan for Indigenous Languages was launched by Guatemala as part of the activities of the "International Decade of Indigenous Languages" with the aim of raising global awareness about the status of indigenous languages and mobilizing efforts to preserve and revitalize them.
The next Inclusive Education Forum was also discussed at its second edition and as this stage promotes an exchange of experiences that enrich individual processes across countries.
At the close of the session, Panama's Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, stated that his journey was characterized by "six months of sowing and work, based on respect and mutual confidence throughout the process."
"The Pro tempore Presidency of Panama today closed with the full conviction that we have fulfilled the mandate of integration, but work barely begins with profound illusion, the Pro tempore Presidency goes to the capable and visionary hands of the Dominican Republic. We know that, under his leadership, this strategic vision of artistic and cultural teaching, childhood and the cross-sectionality of cultural politics will get a renewed and decisive impetus," stated Herrera.
He added that the future of the region cannot be built only with concrete and steel and built with ideas, with identity and with humanity, because "culture and education are the spiritual scaffold and the engine of creativity and development we need to overcome challenges that unite us," he remarked.
He concluded by thanking all representatives of the CECC-SICA, the commitment shown, promoting creativity and especially a more united regional communication.
