Panama City, August 14, 2025 The Ministry of Culture held the Ricardo Miró Literature Gala on the evening of August 12 at the International Book Fair, where the best prize for Panamanian letters was officially published at the 2024 edition.

At the event, the first 100 copies of the five genres, Counting, Essay, Novela, Poesía and Teatro were also delivered and met with what was established at the bases of the contest.

In this cultural evening they became known the rewarded works: A scarlet moon, from Édgar Soberón Torchia (Teatro), so the sea was this, from Pedro Crenes Castro (Cuento), The great teeth of the Ripple, from Carlos Wynter Melo (Novela), and Narrative about identities and subterranean spaces in Panama, from Patricia pizzurno (Essay) and at the most remote place, from Eyra Harbar (Poesia).

Each work was presented by well-known writers, academics and guest artists, who emphasized the literary value, originality and cultural contribution of the awarded works.

The Vice Minister of Culture, Arianne Benedetti, emphasized that the publication of these books is a commitment to the dissemination of national literature and an impetus to the creative work of the authors. "These texts do not only enrich our letters but also open dialogues about our identity, history and diversity," she said.

With this surrender, the Ministry of Culture strengthens Panama's literary heritage and offers readers an opportunity to gain access to the most recent creations of writers recognized at the Ricardo Miró National Literature Award at the International Feria of the Book 2025.
