At a significant step towards social transformation, the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, today met with National Police Director Jaime Fernández and his management team at the City of the Arts to join them with the project Latidos del Barrio

That meeting was a formal start to a crucial partnership and sought to put together efforts to develop participatory programmes that would promote social cohesion and give new opportunities to youth and residents of at-risk areas.

The partnership will allow a vital exchange of information and co-ordination of joint actions to ensure the secure and effective implementation of cultural projects in communities.

"We need his help to get into communities securely and build bridges through art and music," said Minister Herrera at the presentation of "Latidos del Barrio." The project aims to bring artistic expressions to neighborhoods but also to train community leaders to replicate the system, creating a sustainable impact and empowering their own residents.

For his part, Director Fernández expressed his complete appreciation for the initiative. "We are grateful that they have taken us into account, especially our community police unit," stated Fernández, emphasizing that the National Police already have a variety of activities and events that can complement and enrich the programs put forward.

Following this meeting, both institutions have committed themselves to formalizing a detailed work plan.

That strategic partnership represented a unique opportunity to use the transformative power of art as a tool for social development and violence prevention, building a more harmonious future for Panamanian communities.
