Moravia Ochoa, second woman to get Rogelio Sinan Decoration

The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and the Ministry of Education (MEDUCA) have been awarded the Rogelio Sinan 2020, to the Panamanian poet Moravia Ochoa López.
Moravia Ochoa became the second woman to get the décor, given every two years, founded under law 14 of 7 February 2001, and to be dedicated to the writer or to the writer who, with his literary background and merits, will be selected by the National Council of Writers and Writers.
On Ochoa's work, the Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro, expressed in his speech that his poetry is vital, sweet, revealing and touching, with verses that argue for freedom, light and tenderness.
"His words call for astonishment and warmth and longing. His poetry leads you to pass through all challenges and to move ahead with every storm and to put an end to and breathe, because fire and the wild cannot be with you," emphasized Aguilar Navarro.
The National Council of Writers and Writers of Panama, composed of representatives from the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, the University of Panama, the Universidad especializado de las Américas, the Panamanian Academy of Language, the Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí (UNACHI), the Universidad Tecnologia de Panama, the Universidad Santa María La Antigua and the Fundación Biblioteca Nacional, are the body with responsibility for appointing the prize-winner every two years.
The Panamanian writer, for her part, was very pleased with the recognition and emphasized that decoration is a commitment to the letters, to the homeland itself and to the general culture, as through works they give themselves emotions, dreams and actions to the isthmus.
Elegie Alvarado de Ricord (2002), Tristan Solarte (2004), Carlos Francisco Chagmarín (2006), Pedro Rivera (2008), Demetrio Fábrega (2010) and Alvaro Menéndez Franco (2012), César Young Núñez (2014), José Franco (2016), Justo Arroyo (2018), Moravia Ochoa (2020), are the ten writers who have received this mention.
About Moravia Ochoa
Moravia Ochoa is a leading Panamanian writer who grows his literary genres and poetry and studied at the University of Panama's Faculty of Philosophy, Letras and Education.
In 1958 and with only 17 years old she first received the Ricardo Miró Prize, Panama's most important literary contest with his sonnet book "The Primordial Roots" and in 1961 the same prize now in the Section of Cuento with the work "Yesca."
With his storybook "Yesca" (1961), it breaks a long silence of more than 30 years in which women did not publish their stories. The book, as published, was regarded by specialists as a bold paper and makes use of the resort of the inner monologist and today refers to Panamanian literature written by women.
He received recognition for his poems "Comrade President," poem dedicated to Salvador Allende for a literary contest held in Peru and at a local contest for "When Mary Failed The Sunnis of Oakland"
