Panama, May 6, 2025 - The Rog of Art and Culture is a program of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and the communal boards, that aims to bring communities closer to cultural spaces such as museums, galleries and theatres.
That initiative, which had been focused on older persons, had increased its reach to include children, youth and adults of all ages.
In April 2025, two tours were held as part of this program. The first was held on 3 April, when a group of 30 older adults, together with the Communal Board of Mayor Diaz, visited the Museum of Contemporary Art. The second activity was held on 24 April at the Palacio Bolívar, with the Ministry of Social Development and the Communal Boards of Bethania and Mayor Diaz.
Since its launch, more than 150 older adults from the Rio Abajo, Calidonia, Parque Lefevre, Betania, Ancón, Juan Díaz, Ernesto Campos Córdoba and Las Mañanitas have been involved in cultural projects, including visits to iconic museums such as the Biomuseo and the Museo del Canal Interoceanica de Panama. These experiences aim to promote cultural rights and promote social inclusion and well-being, enabling participants to enjoy and familiarize with the history and art of the country.
Aminta Fuentes who was present at the second tour expressed: "The project looks great to me because it allows people to get to know the story of Panama. I have been impressed by the Palacio Bolívar, the name says everything, because here have been significant events in our country's history."
The Course of Art and Culture continues to expand to give more people an opportunity to participate in cultural activities that are meaningful to their lives.
