My Culture Rewards The Winners of My History

Panama, November 19, 2020 -The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) awarded the 12 winners of the contest "My History Counts," organized by the cultural entity with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (BID) and the First Lady's Office.

At activity categoryThe winner was Nato Cornejo with his work "Teachings of Life," category; Berly Soriano and his work "Sebastian at Boca La Caja," category objects; Cynthia Barsallo with his photo "The Green face" and category spaces Freddy Araúz with "The New Favorite Corner."

The mentions were given to Balbino Máías, Felipe Hernández, Jafeth Gutiérrez, Anthony Tapia, Renee Abadi, Eliezer Ores, Juan Alonso and Guillermo García Paredes, who will be awarded with business workshops for the first training program for entrepreneurs from Creative and Cultural Industries dictated by the Ministry of Culture.

Marú Gálvez, National Director of Creative Economics reported that more than 500 photos have been received from all sectors of the country. "The idea was that through art and photography the Panamanian could express and count how they felt from his home during the pandemic period and expressed his ideas through photography."

"It's important to admit that through this contest we achieve three goals that Panamanian will tell his story through art, have historic photo material about how that pandemic was experienced and give them opportunity to young Panamanian people who through creative and cultural industries can have an economic recovery and a new venture," Maru Gálvez added.
