Panama became the centre of Ibero-American music with the 32nd meeting of the Ibero-Music Intergovernmental Council, a meeting that brought together representatives from 22 countries to discuss the program's advances, its future projects and its impact on the region's music industry.

The City of the Arts is the stage for this event, which will extend up to April 4 and will mark a milestone in cultural promotion and cooperation.

The Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of this meeting for the country. "It's an honour to have them at the City of the Arts, a space that represents our commitment to a decentralized, accessible and inclusive culture.

We are also excited that you will get to know the Center for Art and Culture, in the province of Colón, a reflection of our vision of bringing cultural policies to all territories, where cultural life is preserved, comforted and transformed into an engine of development, "she said.

The project of accessibility and cultural inclusion awarded at the second call for pipas of the SEGIB will be presented during the work sessions and will evaluate the impact of the 2024 calls and the advances of the Ibermusicas Observatory.

Strategies for internationalizing Ibero-American music will also be discussed, with the presentation of the Ibero-Music Global and the web series "How to turn from Ibero-America."

The event will feature an exhibition of innovative projects such as Sound Identities, Ibero-American score catalogue and the Amazon's music network. Also, an area for discussion about artificial intelligence, streaming and intellectual rights in music will be opened, crucial issues for the future of industry.

Panama, through its representative in the Ibermusicas program, Yigo Supasti, presents the special project "La Royalty del Calypso," with the aim of encouraging the rescue, promotion and dissemination of Calypso in the region.

Ibermusics is an international cooperation program that promotes Ibero-American music through financing, scholarships and artistic promotion. That meeting in Panama represents a fundamental opportunity to strengthen the music industry and generate new opportunities for artists from the region, and reaffirms their commitment to diversity and cultural development.
