The third edition of "Disonances 2025," the International Meeting of Women in Music, takes place in the City of the Arts until March 21.

The event, supported by the Ministry of Culture, Iberorcestas and the Spanish Cooperation Agency, brings together leading women from Ibero-American music with the aim of visualizing their talent and promoting equity at the artistic level.

That year, "Dysonances" broadened its scope by integrating disciplines such as theater, folklore and dance. Through talks, panels and workshops, key issues such as gender equality in the music industry, the impact of women on artistic education and women's representation in orchestral spaces were addressed.

The 2025 edition includes participation by internationally renowned women from Venezuela, Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador and Brazil.

María Eugenia Herrera, Minister of Culture, emphasized the importance of this space by signalling "We want future generations of music, composer, director and cultural directors to find a more fair and accessible way to develop their talent. But above all, that these references are visible so that girls and youth can aim to develop their potential in different disciplines."

Some of the issues to be dealt with in this issue include: Women in art and industry, Gender equality and empowerment in culture, Unbalanced representation of women in orchestral spaces, Impact of women in music in El Salvador, Women pillars in musical education and needs and opportunities for an integral musical education in the national educational system, among other issues.

The event's opening was attended by the Minister of Women, Niurka Palacios, Lenni Montiel, Resident of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Panama and Bouchra Boudchiche, Ambassador of Morocco to Panama.

"Disonances 2025" is built up as a space for meeting and celebrating women's talent in music and arts. MiCultura continues to build a more equitable, strong and representative cultural sector of our diversity.
