MiCultura and Spanish cooperation set up initiatives for the bicentennial

Panama, 11 November 2020 -The Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro and the Director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Mody Martínez Soliman, held an event to set up a number of agreements and initiatives for the celebration of Panama's bicentennial of Spain in November 2021, with Spanish ambassador to Panama, Javier Pagalday Gastelurrutia, also participating.

Carlos Aguilar Navarro expressed his satisfaction with receiving both authorities, who brought good news and with them talked about re-adopting projects, implementing new plans for cultural cooperation, and strengthening links of collaboration and communication and talking about the impact of covidn19 at cultural level.

Martinez and Aguilar also discussed projects such as the Folklore National Centre, the Biblioteca Network, a number of initiatives to support the cultural sector both in Panama and Spain and a cultural enclave to contribute to the celebration of the bicentennial.

Martínez Soliman, who began his visit to Panama on Monday to identify priorities for a new framework for cooperation and to support the celebration of the bicentennial of independence, at his visit to the head of the Panamanian cultural portfolio, emphasized that among the aims of this session was to support Panama's management and to be a participant of this celebration, we want a cultural enclave, we feel that's how to celebrate our culture, she added.

For his part, Pagalday Gastelurrutia stated that at this meeting we have been talking about how to support culture both in Panama and in Spain and about what we wish to do in the coming year and how we can see how people can consume culture.
