Panama, February 24, 2025. "Today I have to share with you a project that's still under construction. Our challenge is to preserve it with a high academic level so that future generations can serve the nation through art," expressed the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, at an emotional meeting held at the City of the Arts, where she shared a special day with teachers, administrators and well-known Panamanian artists.

The meeting was marked by mixed emotions of memories and shared experiences, including a minute's recollection of the legendary dancer Margot Fonteyn, whose invaluable legacy continues to inspire the world of classical dance.

During the day, the ministers and the teachers visited the different spaces of the enclosure and emphasized their importance as a centre for development and promotion of the arts in Panama.

The dancers currently present have been best known as Anacela Smith, Cristina Quijano, Graciela Guillén, Mireya Navarro, María Cecilia Triana, Josefina and Rina Nicoletti, Angelina Guajardo, Katherina Kraus, Aida Orillac, Haydée Méndez and Gloria Barrio, among others.

The participants had an opportunity to witness an essay of the National Ballet and participated in an enriching exchange about challenges, achievements and incentives faced by the different ballet schools in the country. Also, the contribution of non-profit organizations, such as the Association for Dance, was highlighted in strengthening and growing this art for Panama.

The Ministry of Culture keeps the gates of the City of The Arts open to all generations of artists. "Art is a right and for all. We are very pleased to see several generations united in this mission," stated Minister Herrera.
