The Ministry of Culture awards winners of the Roberto Lewis Visual Arts contest 2024

Last Thursday, September 12, the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) held at the Galería Museo de La Ciudad de las Artes a prize ceremony at the Roberto Lewis 2024 Visual Arts Competition, at which we recognized the talent of four leading artists: Andrea Santos, Manuel Golden, Cisco Merel and Ana Elena Tejera.

In this edition, the Jury Qualifier chose from more than 120 works, the following creations: "What a rain," by Andrea Santos, "Miradas de Esperanza," by Manuel Golden, "La Casa," by Cisco Merel and "The events that led to his oblivion," by Ana Elena Tejera.

During the event, Gianni Bianchini, national director of the arts of MiCultura, emphasized the importance of continuing to support national artists and expressed: "Let's move forward with creativity, encouraging our artists to continue to challenge the boundaries of visual expressions and to expand new perspectives."

Manuel Golden, an award-winning artist, explained: "with his work - and with his looks of Hope - I represent the challenges faced by youth of African descent in our society. Through his experiences, I see a youth that, despite challenges, keeps alive the hope of serving his community."

Since its creation in 1980, the Roberto Lewis Visual Arts Competition has recognized the creativity, dedicated and technical and thematic depth of visual works in Panama and paid tribute to master Roberto Lewis, as the best exponent of national plastic.
