Last Saturday, July 13th, we fired Queen Mother from the congoes of Curundú, Alejandrina Lan Jaramillo, at two ceremonies: one at Our Lady of Lourdes's church, at Carrasquilla, officiated by Bishop Ulloa, and another at his native community, Escobal, at St. Mary's parish of Bethlehem. Both ceremonies reflected the Catholic religious and cultural rituals of the sepelius congo.

Dona Aleja achieved recognition, respect and great descent of an extended kingdom with love and respect from Curundú to all the palenques of the country and to each of the Afro-Panamanian and cultural management organisations of the Panamanian nation.
He was a cultural ambassador by vocation and action, a leader and teacher of congo and Afro-Ghanaman cultural rights for more than 60 years, both inside and outside the country.

Mother of five children: currently Queen congo of the Palenque of Curundú, Marcia Rodriguez Lan and his brothers Benito, Nidia, Alejandrina and Gilma (q.pd). A great family and community offspring will follow his ancestral legacy and contribute to his recognition in 2018 as his representative list of the Inmaterial Cultural Heritage of mankind before UNESCO.

Nengres and macas have been singing, they have been playing the drum, they have been dancing with the Queen and they have been walking her through the streets as she last goes to meet her ancestors.
