The Minister of Culture, Giselle González Villarrué, participated in a virtual manner from the 62 regular meeting of the Executive Board of the Regional Centre for the Promotion of the Book in Latin America and the Caribbean (Cerlac), at which the budget management reports of this body were submitted, the final report of the technical programme 2022- 2023 and the draft technical programme for the biennium 2024- 2025 were submitted.

At this session, members of the committee have been more aware of the lines of action that have been developed in each of the member countries, their objectives and their scope, as well as their strategic objectives to promote strengthening of the editorial ecosystems of countries of the region, access to libraries and strengthening the role of women in literature.

The board noted examples of the advocacy, outreach and strategies undertaken by member countries, including the certification of the Simón Bolívar University Library under the Marrakech Treaty and the guide "Avalúo, then I exist" co-published by Cerlalc and the Ministry of Culture.

As part of the agenda established for the meeting, members voted for Spain to continue with the Chair of the Executive Board for a further term and to approve the renewal of the centre's organizational chart and its personnel plant.

The Cerlalc recognizes the importance of promoting access to information and practice of reading, writing and light as fundamental rights, more than fifty years after its establishment, and reaffirms its commitment to the region with full certainty that the book with all its transformations are essential elements for the development of inclusive, fair, diverse and sustainable societies.
