• President Cortizo Cohen stated that in none of the 800 activities performed have anyone been asked what political party they belong to to to get a benefit.

 At activity 800 that he conduct in 58 months of management, the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, gave an order to conduct his work for the rehabilitation of the Auditorium Institute of Las Tablas and will become the headquarters of the National Folklore Centre.

Accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Giselle González Villarrué, deputy ministers, governors of Los Santos, Rubén Villarreal, and Herrera, Víctor Roca and representatives of the Folklore of Azuero, the president emphasized that activity 800 celebrates it on the ground where his mother was born and at the same time fulfill a promise of government. "That activity fills me with emotion for the profound roots of being Panamanian living here," she stated.

Cortizo Cohen noted that his management has far exceeded the number of activities that have been undertaken by the administrations of Martín Torrijos, Ricardo Martinelli and Juan Carlos Varela. "We have preferred to be face-to-face with Panamanian and Panamanian people in provinces and comarcas, and to be turning them around the world," she said.

He emphasized that no person has been asked if they belong to a political party to get a benefit from these 800 activities.

The improvements to the Auditorium Gymnasium cover the extension of spaces, installation of graderies for 800 people, air conditioning and the necessary equipment for the conduct of folklore, cultural and sports events.

With this investment of B / .1.7 million, President Cortizo Cohen's administration honors commitments focused on strengthening culture and sport for the benefit of the population and complies with action number 97 of the Uniting Forces Plan.

The Auditorium Institute has been the centre of cultural activities in the region for many years and will directly benefit the local population of the Province of Los Santos and surrounding areas and indirectly the national and foreign population.

The structure that will be refurbished and improved will have two floors, "lobby," pallet, toilet, grader, court, gym, living rooms, dressing rooms, event area, meeting rooms, workshop rooms, gallery and exhibition room.

The Minister of Culture emphasized that the province of Los Santos, with more than 150 popular parties, 10 national festivals and 7 folklorics, as well as carnivals, is the epicentre of festive expressions that impact an audience of about 3.5 million people a year and that are driven by economic contributions, by about B /. 195.000.00 a year.

He added that the Folklore National Centre is the appropriate cultural space that they have been waiting for more than 24 years and that today it's a promise from President Cortizo Cohen to the region of Azuero.

He noted that the Centre will be built in a year and with this work the National Government moves forward with actions to promote national culture and folklore.
