< strong > Pedro Crents Castro wins Literature Review Award < / strong >

The Panamanian writer Pedro Crenes Castro became the first winner of the contest "Literaria Critics, Pedro Correa" one of the three new contest established by the Ministry of Culture by 2023 with a view to continuing to promote the creativity of all our national writers and to promote other literary genres among youth and adults.

That new contest paid tribute to Pedro Correa Vásquez, a Panamanian writer born in the province of Herrera in 1955 and a literary reference for his writers and readers.

Correa from a child shows his artistic inclinations as drawing, painting, poetry and theater. He studied at his native Chitre, later at the University of Panama and reached other degrees at the Máximo Gorki Institute in Moscow, where he graduated with high honors.

The Qualifying Jury appointed this play prize as its winner. "Fragments To Read A Literature " because "from first to last it keeps a high critical, analytic, reflection and propositive tone with respect to the matter of study, with a language that denotes an exponent clarity and full knowledge of the topic addressed: Panamanian literature. Also, to reflect conduct of the essayist profession."

The decision makers also felt that "an autoidal voice is critical with respect to the formation of writers and their unrenouncing association with the reading, discipline and knowledge of the profession so that they can produce high quality literary works that enhance national literature."

The Jury, among his works, emphasized the high level of his work "The water, the air and the nácar in the Panamanian letters," signed with the pseudonym Cambute, whose content prestigates the Panamanian letters and more and more fills the expectations of an award as called.

Likewise, Brugiati, Espino and de Gracia call on Panamanian literary essayists and critics to participate in this type of contest that seek to get into the study and analysis of Panamanian literary production, particularly, and literature in general so as to enhance the value of letters, while maintaining critical rigor and high level of speech.
