< strong > To strengthen the film ecosystem in Panama with project Hilando Storias < / strong >

From August 28 to September 30, 2023, a second version of the "Hilando Historias" fellowship program will be held for professionals and emerging film industry for the development and strengthening of their projects as a training event that is organized by the Founding Retirement Cultural Platform (PIP) and supported by the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) through the National Cinema Management (DICINE).

Thirteen projects have been selected through an open call for this second version, in which those elected through grants for this script residence will have a space for training, reflection and networking about cinema and workshops and advice with international script and production experts.

"That's another project that was part of our 2022 call for training and development and aims to strengthen the writing of the scripts, to structure a better narrative that will allow them to successfully complete their projects for the search for financing, with a view to the next Fondo Cine 2023 National Competition we will be announcing soon," said Sheila González, DICINE director of MiCultura.

"Training has a hybrid format because teachers who are recognized as members of international industry have earlier commitments that have been prevented from travelling to Panama and students will be connected with them virtually a few days from the Ministry of Culture, so we are sure that this workshop will give participants the tools necessary to develop competitive scripts, built on the basis of good film production," González emphasized.

The workshop aims at all industry members especially writers and producers and at all that new emerging talent that's participating in the Panamanian film industry.

It should be noted that Hilando Historias is one of the projects benefiting from an economic incentive through the Fondo Cine that the state assigns to boost and promote this creative industry and that is awarded through MiCultura.

Of the 13 projects selected, by public call, there are three projects that participated in the Fondo Cine 2022 National Competition, these are:Black Poison,of the writer María Isabel BurnesPacora,of Luis Lorenzo-Trujillo andThe Mad's Stone,from Pilar Moreno.

The counselors are Yolanda Barraca (Spain), Johanné Gómez Torrero (Dominican Republic) and Xenia Rivery (Cuba).

Roger Vásquez, president of PIP emphasized that "the idea is that all projects can end with something strong and with a firm structure and put their scripts into practice so that these feature fiction and documentaries can be put up and applied to other funds and residences."

Meanwhile, María Isabel Burnes, a Zionist from Black Poison He expressed that "I think it's excellent that we have these kinds of initiatives, because they help us to improve our stories from the beginning that's the script, so that we can get to the film as soon as we get to find a product of better quality, because it's come from history with worked advice."
