Students at the Center for Higher Studies of Fine Arts and Folklore of La Chorro (CESBAFCH) celebrated International Folklore Day with an activity called "Welcome to Know about the People" with an aim to highlight national and international folklore.
A number of cultural and folkloric activities were performed at the event, including dances by national and international delegations with dance samples from Honduras, El Salvador and Costa Rica.
In addition, old-age games, contiguous, teaching and workshops related to folklore were presented.
The Ministry of Culture, through Folklore's national leadership, supported this activity with a talk called "The Folklore's living experience with his projects" dictated by Folklorist Edward Castillo.
He recommends that students and assistants "continue to highlight folklore with this type of activity and that they investigate and report and document every day."
"It's necessary to leave a legacy to each of these children and new generations so that the essence of folklore isn't lost," added Castillo, popular as "Chakatín."
The Ambassador of El Salvador to Panama, Diana Venegas, and she shared with the attending public her culture, at a stand, where she promoted crafts, typical plates and a sample of the Salvadoran folk dance with the group "Ritmo de mi tierra."
The event was also attended by China's Chorro Society and West Panama with the Lions Dance, The Academy of Guna Dance and the dance group of the Messianic congregation House of Israel Roeh.
