The development of cinema in Panama is one of the challenges ahead of the Ministry of Culture and initiatives are being put in place to strengthen the growth of this activity with the conduct of the International Laboratory for Intensive Creation of Kinomada Cortometrages at Panama 2023.

Kinomada is a non-profit organization with headquarters in Quebec, Canada, whose member have been travelling around the world to conduct workshops in more than 23 countries, with international awards at renowned film festivals with their production and at this opportunity from 3 to 12 August for a ten-day space, they will have their workshop number 27 in Panama City.

To that end, his deputy Minister of Culture, Gabriel González, on behalf of Minister Giselle González Villarrué, expressed to the representatives of Kinomada that Micumura is committed to promoting "our cinema and we do so through policies for the promotion and development of cinematography and it's through them that we today open this space to promote the creation of short films with Kinomada."

Vice-Minister González congratulated Panama's consul at Montreal, Solange Quintero, for managing his presence to have new spaces for training, production and distribution of Panamanian, Latin American and global cinema.

Together with Panamanian filmmakers, producers, directors and writers from Canada, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, the United States, Morocco and Spain will participate.

González thought that Panama, as a stage of national and international film production, had been chosen by this Canadian organization and said that "it fills us with a great deal of satisfaction as an example of the important work being done to strengthen our industry from the different fields of cinema."

Meanwhile, Solange Quintero, consul of Panama at Montreal, detailed that this project of bringing together national and international talents under the leadership of members of the Kinomada Foundation, began three years ago and expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Culture for his interest and his efforts to achieve them.
