The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) jointly with the SOS Albinos Foundation awarded winners of the second version of the Mother Earth Children's Painting contest with different awards, including a certificate, a statuette and technological products such as tablets, among others.
The Jury of the "Mother Earth" Children's Painting contest, made up of high-track Panamanian artists such as Blas Petit, Heriberto Valdés and Gabriel González Vice Minister of Culture, selected winners and finalists from among the 23 drawings presented through colorful criteria, composition, technique, message and theme.
A total of ten finalists were selected to select after them, five works to determine the first three locations and two honorary mentions, the latter obtained by: Axel Villarrué González at age 12, resident at San Miguelito and Mia Pérez at age 9 and resident at Vacamonte.
The main awards were: first prize, Axel Jean Carlos Pérez, 9 years old, second prize Nahbi Sanguillén, 10 years old and third place, 10 year old Yainelis Rooseveth, all winners are from the Province of Western Panama.
"To the children involved, to all winners or not, we invite them to continue to take advantage of all the spaces that are offered as these to continue their artistic development and to show their talents and skills and that these paintings are witnesses," said Gabriel González, Vice Minister of Culture.
For his part, Akeban Velarde, president emphasized "that with this contest we call Mother Earth we want to promote care for the environment, using art as a tool, because if we care about the earth we will have health."
The SOS Albinos Panama Foundation, a non-profit organization established on March 8, 1999, aims at ensuring the complete well-being of people with albinism, sensitizing the general public about their suffering and promoting inclusion and respect for their rights and human dignity in Panamanian society.
The program of the activity included members of the Orquesta Dule, who delight those present with their themes filled with love for nature and symbolism.
