MiCultura headquarters inspected to discuss National History Museum of Panama

Panama, 2 July 2020 -The Ministry of Culture received a delegation from the Public Infrastructure Coordination Unit (UCIP) of the President of the Republic to jointly inspect the facilities of the headquarters of MiCultura, located at the Plaza de France from the San Felipe correction, as part of the project to restore the building that will become the new National History Museum of Panama.
The project consists of the relocation, restructuring and extension with modern technologies of a National Museum of History, in a space that will have more museum pieces and an experience of research of our historic elements as a nation, explain the Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar.
The association of UCIP made a tour with the Minister, the equipment of the infrastructure management and the national museum management, to show the existing conditions of the building and to gather information that will allow the development of the project of the new museum, that will be part of the Panama Museum Route.
Currently, the History Museum is a small space within the Municipal Palace of Panama City.
The new historic museum includes an examination of the project with UCIP and its facilities will be the current headquarters of the Ministry of Culture and will require a design of the management and management plan for the museum.
Anayansi Chichaca, Director of Museums, explained that, among the tasks to be performed at the ministry, according to the Government Plan of this administration, we have been strengthening the National Network of Museums, which began with specific activities such as the opening of all museums of the State, for the first time in history on Saturdays and Sunday, that have had a positive response from the public.
Likewise, last year's "Domingo de Museos" campaign was launched in a public and private partnership with the tourism sector, breaking a record of visits and performing about 70 events at national level.
These actions resulted in an increase of more than 32% of the number of visitors to these important sites of the country, added the architect Chicpacho.
A comprehensive and restored National History Museum of Panama, the Regional Museum of Aguadulce Stella Sierra, the Herrera Fabio Rodriguez Museum, the Pausilipo House of Los Santos, the José Domingo Museum of Obaldía, Chiriquí and the Regional Museum of Veraguas (2022) and the Nantiquí Archaeological Park (2022) have been planned for planning for 2021 and 2022.
