< strong > A student from La Red achieves important Iberorquestas award < / strong >

The 19-year-old Ricardo Corro clarinet student, a member of the Panama Youth Orchestra and Chorus Network of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), was the winner of the 2022 Interpreting Youth Competition at Iberorcestas.

Ricardo Corro's musical track began at his 13th year old as he entered the Herberto López Music Band at José Daniel Crespo as a clarinetist. He later entered La Red in 2020 amidst the pandemic.

"To me at La Red has signified a radical change in my way of playing the clarinet, thanks to the lessons I get from Professor Alexis Fong, I have been greatly improved and I have been more encouraged to continue with music," Ricardo Corro said.

"To be part of La Red I have been able to join the National Youth Symphony Orchestra, and this has given me unforgettable experiences as it was to play at the National Theater as a soloist. The Network changed my life and I thank my family, friends and my teacher who always support and believe me," she expressed this Panamanian talent.

For his part, Alexis Fong, coordinator of the Panama Module Orchestra Network Center and Corro's teacher, claims to be very proud with this news because it's the result of his student's passion with his work with his clarinet.

"I'm very happy to know that Ricardo's one of the winners of this contest. as his teacher, I can say that he's always been a brilliant student, because of his complete dedication to the practice of clarinet and his dedicated works," Fong stated.

From the pandemic and throughout that year, we worked together from virtuality, him from Chitre and me from town with the primordial goal of raising his technical and artistic level to develop a better performance of the clarinet, "emphasized the teacher.

A master's international Jury: Dubraska López (Venezuela), José Javier Romero (Spain) and Alexis Zapata (Ecuador) made public his decision with the list of winners, who are based for selection on variables such as his or her commitment to his or her musical grouping, his or her values of responsibility and solidarity and his or her performance with respect to his or her studied context.

"It's the first contest at participation and I'm very happy because great things can be achieved with music. Winning this award is an honor, I'm very glad I did it," Corro added.

The Network thanks Iberorquestas Juveniles for offering these opportunities to forge the musical career of many youth and professionals. That prize is an additional sign that music transforms lives.
