< strong > MiCultura successfully developed Colón Summer Fest < / strong >

The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) held the Colón Summer Fest on Saturday, 11 February, an art, entrepreneurship and cultural meeting with its headquarters at the new Colón 2000 Shopping Centre, where national and foreign visitors have been able to acquire from books and crafts and have an artistic performance.

That cultural initiative was undertaken through the Regional Directorate of MiCultura at Colón in collaboration with the Cultural Rights and Citizenship Section and with the participation of about 60 artisan and entrepreneurs who have been offering articles from different areas including textiles, wood and jewelry with seawater and recycled products as well as beauty and personal care products.

The students at the School of Fine Arts at the Regional University Centre at Colón also exhibited their best works to viewers at the pictorial exhibition "Free Trazos," at which they highlighted beautiful images that reflected the richness of colonial culture.

At the artistic level, the public enjoyed the presentation of members of the Network of Orchestra and Chors, percussion workshop with TanCubo and Counting Stories by the colonial writer, Dagoberto Chung.

Literature lovers also found their space with a "book barter" and with the purchase of books that offered four editorials that have been brought from novels, educational books and school texts as a way to promote literature at Colón, as well as the participation of colonist writers who are also selling their works.

According to Ruddy Rodriguez, regional director of MiCultura Colón, this activity was designed to create a varied cultural tourist offer, using the spaces of the Shopping Center for the enjoyment of visitors and thus highlight the culture and talent that Colón has through its crafts and its artists.
