To gain knowledge about the right of persons with disabilities to participate in an equitable manner in all activities under way, about 150 partners from the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and other partners have been proactively involved in workshops dictated by activist Jembell Chinfundo.
Chifundo is a young settler with reduced mobility as a result of a traffic accident, but that fact was not a barrier to becoming a leading supporter of the rights of people with different forms of disability and promoting their inclusion and participation in cultural, sports and political life, among others.
The training sessions coordinated through the Office of Equal Opportunities at MiCultura sought to give participants knowledge of national and international standards guaranteeing the rights of persons with disabilities and also involved partners from the office of the President, Pansetics and the Municipality of San Miguelito.
The day was held for six days at the headquarters of MiCultura where the Expressor emphasized the responsibility of society as a whole to give people with disabilities full enjoyment of their rights, such as accessibility to buildings, transport, reading and entertainment, among others.
Chinfundo has more than 15 years of experience with social activism for the rights of people of African descent, women and youth and ten years ago has been incorporated into the constant struggle for the rights of persons with disabilities and has achieved academic success at the level of graduate and master's degree while performing his role as a mother.
He was also a poet and currently studied a Master's degree in Public Policy Management for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities and their families and a master's degree in Inclusive and intercultural education.
According to Jorge Morales, head of the Office for Equal Opportunities, "the aim of training is to strengthen knowledge about the rights of persons with disabilities so that they are always fulfilled in all actions undertaken by the Ministry of Culture."
