MiCultura promotes human rights contest

The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) participated for the second consecutive year that of the National Press and Human Rights Competition in memory of Panamanian sociologist Raúl Leis, awards organized by the Panamanian Association for Integral Development for Social Communication - APADICOS, in its fifth version.

That's an initiative that promotes awareness, motivation and awareness among journalists about the promotion and importance of human rights in the development of national events through the reports made, said Toribio Díaz Vásquez, Executive Director of APADICOS.

The winners of this fifth version that were selected by a group of teachers from the faculty of social communication at the University of Panama, the College of Sociology and ABADICOS, after viewing all jobs, were selected the following:

• Category of Digital Media The paper selected was the theme:"Towards climate justice with human rights in Panama"from the winning journalist:Olmedo Carrasquilla - published November 28, 2022 at Diario Digital Radio Tempur.com   

• Category of Written Media:  The select proposal was:"The Tomb of the Living: The Cruel State of Jails, gAnador:Marlene Testa, from Diario La Estrella, published November 25, 2022. 

• Category of Television Press:The production selected was for: "Public Transport beyond Grant," by the winning journalista: Yannisse Vergara, from TVN Canal 2, published June 15, 2022 at the Starlight News. 

• Category in Radical Press: Theselection of journalistic work was:"Humanized Party: A Right of All Women,"from the winning journalist:Nitzia Ríos, news delivery that was performed on RPC Radio - 90.9 FM, broadcast on October 06, 2022. 

The press and human rights contest dedicated to Raúl A. Leis R as a person dedicated to the promotion and defence of human rights in Panama and the Latin American region, stated Enrique Noel, National Director of Cultural Rights and Citizenship at the Ministry of Culture.

The Association of Panama for the Comprehensive Development of Social Communications (APADICOS), is a non-profit organization with the aim of promoting, strengthening and contributing to the development of social networks, systems and means of communication in Panama, with a view to ensuring optimal social participation by social communicators in the progress and development of their members, with a culture of promoting and defending human rights from the perspective of social communicators in Panama.
