Due to its contributions to society and especially to their knowledge and knowledge, and with the aim of enjoying all cultural events, the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) carries out through its "citizen culture" programs several actions to strengthen the participation of older people in different art-oriented activities.
Since 2021, MiCultura has established links and alliances with a number of old age institutions and groups, such as the Social Security Fund's (CSS) and Federation of Retirees, pensioners and older persons, among others, to share the entity's cultural programs with this sector of the population.
A number of more than 500 older adults have been affected by dance, painting, reading and musicotaping activities, and at the metropolitan level of Lefevre and San miguelito Park, Calidonia, Caiomillo, Mayor Diaz, if not at national level, and with the regional headquarters that are part of the alliances and with MiCultura.
For this reason, we have the first chorus of the CSS's Major Adult Welfare Center at Lefevre Park, one of the groups that are part of the singing workshops, dictated by MiCultura instructors, who through musicotapes strengthen memory and other senses such as hearing and vision and through better co-ordination of movements.
Lastenia González, Civil Culture Coordinator of MiCultura stated that the older adult program "is part of our commitment to strengthen and promote Cultural Rights in communities through art workshops as a tool for social transformation, with the aim of promoting mental health where artistic expressions serve as entertainment and enjoyment but as a channel for keeping them active and dynamic."
He added that currently with the participants of this program "we have been participating in fairs with the associations and one of our aims is to conduct the first meeting of older adults called" Meeting with the 2023 memory "and also the possibility of an agreement with the Federation for the next Solar Games of the Greater Adult in 2024."
