"A Special Christmas" concert printed with emotions and hope

Proving that for art there are no limits, 120 students who are members of La Red's Special Education Program have been united in a great ensemble called "A Special Christmas," commemorates International Day of People with Disabilities and that took place at the Delphin Rig at Albrook Mall.

Students from different parts of this program's country presented a sensitivities-filled repertoire that made those present at the mall, dance, celebrate their lives and welcome them to Christmas.

Electra Castillo, National Director of the Panama Youth Orchestra and Chorus Network welcomed them and urged them to continue to support them and these programs, "we can make changes but together, because music changes hearts and mentalities, this is a project from Panama."

For his part, Deputy Minister of Culture, Gabriel González thanked the artists and teachers for their good work with these children and youth.

"For next year we have been hoping to install all the national stewards for the boys who leave the initial course. That concert is designed to give them that breath of hope and that anything they really believe is possible," stated Anabel Urbina, co-ordinator of the Network's Special Education Programme.

At this concert, pieces such as Learning to Flow, La Bamba, Congos, Murga de Panama, typical music and Christmas songs adapted to Panamanian sign tongue were performed.

The Panama Youth Orchestra and Cork Network is a project by the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) in partnership with the United Nations Programme (UNDP).
