Minister of Culture urges united efforts to reactivate artistic and cultural sector

Panama, June 21, 2020.-The Minister of Culture called on the group of theatologists from Panama to join their efforts to work with solutions to the challenges of their economic activity, as part of their creative and cultural industries, and reiterated their call for them to be included in the register "Suma Ya!," currently available at www.MiCultura.gob.pa, to be part of institutional support through plans, projects and programs to relaunch their jobs.
Carlos Aguilar Navarro, Minister of Culture, responded to the concerns of the theatrical guild, who recently warned about the eventual closure of his activities as a result of his impact on his economy.
"We are in a situation that nobody was prepared for and people have to know that we are currently at work, that we are little by little and together making progress, always thinking about all the cultural sectors of the country," stated the cultural incumbent.
As a ministry, we are working synergically with all sectors to get ahead.
With the Crea project in Panama and with the reactivation plans that are developed jointly with institutions such as AMSMEs, the National Bank of Panama and IPACOOP, we are in a capacity as a government team to give them support in capital Semilla, credit and loans to revive creative and cultural enterprises.
"The theatologists are part of what we know as cultural and creative industries and will be taken into account for opportunities for economic reactivation at these difficult times for all," the Minister added.
On the issue of the potential closure of theater rooms, Aguilar Navarro said that she met with MIVIOT's Minister, Inés Samudo, to discuss together the situation of Panama's theater hall owners with regard to rental issues.
The Minister was interested to offer her assistance and a team to assist the Panamanian theater guild and a meeting with ASTEP, local owners and directors of the Miviot and MiCultura will be held on Monday June 22 to address their concerns and guide them in their moratorium decrees with regard to rental payments.
