"The key issues to be considered by museums with regard to the protection of traditional cultural expressions and copyright and related rights," was the theme of a conference held in virtual format by the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), aimed at members of the Museums Network and museum personnel at the national level with exhibitors from Mexico and Colombia.

Eric Velasco, National Director of Copyright at MiCultura emphasized "that this training aims to raise awareness among museums about the importance of adopting policies that are consistent with respect for traditional cultural protections, copyright and related rights."

The issues addressed included: "The administration of Intellectual Property in museums: a practical vision of traditional cultural expressions" and "Fundamental Concepts of Copyright and Related Rights and practical examples of special relevance to the management of rights by museums."

The welcome was by Eric Velasco, National Director of Copyright and Lorena Bolaños, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva.
