Tribute to Foundors of the Panamanian Society of Authors and Composers

The musicians Daniel Dorindo Cárdenas, Ceferino Nieto Frías and Alfredo Escudero received recognition from the Panamanian Society of Panamanian Authors and Compostors (SPC), for enhancing Panamanian music, its great contributions and its founding members.

The event that was held at the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) had great musicians and composers and was part of the celebration of the 50 years of the Founding of the SPC, next September 24, National Composer's Day.

Karen Peralta, National Director of Folklore at MiCultura, urged youth to be interested in protecting their works and to have an awareness of that right and of that work that can be inherited by youth and the Panamanian family.

For their part, Ceferino Nieto and Alfredo Escudero thanked the SPC and MiCultura for their tribute and shared some anecdotes of their professional career in music. Dorindo Cárdenas for health cuts was unable to attend and his nephew Amable "Mabin" Moreno received recognition.

The accordionists were awarded with recognition by Karen Peralta and Sergio Cortés Marín, President of the SPC.

The Panamanian Society of Authors and Composers SPC was established at the beginning of the 1970s by a group of authors and composers who belonged to typical music to protect their rights and involve folk values among the population. That society was established on 24 September 1972 and obtained its legal status under resolution No. 1 of 7 February 1973.
