About a thousand students enjoyed "Pedro and the Wolf" with the National Symphony Orchestra and Pepina

In a co-ordinated symphony between sign-tongue melodies and musical instruments more than a thousand children from 17 schools in Panama Center and Chifree, as well as disabled students from the Fairy and Fairy Schools and Fairy School Hellen Keller of the Panamanian Institute of Special Habilitation (IPHE) enjoyed a beautiful educational concert at the Balboa Theater with the National Symphony Orchestra and the Pepina Payasite.

During the event organized by the national direction of The Arts of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), the little ones and their families enjoyed in a first part of the story of "Pedro and the Wolf" narrated through the sound of instruments such as violin, flute, oboe, French horn, which have caused the little ones to burst with emotion.

Then in a second part, Ricardo Risco, director of the OSN with Pepina, made a tour to the compositions of the best known classical musicians such as Mozart, Beethoven and Rossini, among others. They again explained the sounds and names of the string instruments while at the same time inviting a student from the Bilingual School of Jaju de Chifree and another girl from the Association of Warriors to serve as directors of the orchestra.

The Vice-Minister of Culture, Gabriel González expressed his gratitude to the musicians and particularly to sign-language interpreters for their great work leading emotions, information and facts to people with hearing disabilities, and emphasized the importance of the celebration of the International Week of Deaf People, a date that calls for strengthening empathy and improving access to communication with them.

"From MiCultura we have been promoting public policies that will help to guarantee the cultural rights of people with disabilities with the aim that they can enjoy and have access to all artistic events," stated Gabriel González, Vice Minister of Culture.

The interactive concerts of the National Symphony Orchestra that have been held with Pepina have become an opportunity to bring classical music closer to the youngest as through this initiative they learn about tools, history and composers while at the same time have an opportunity to listen and get to know the most important music grouping in the country.
