MiCultura Announces contest winners "My History Counts"

Panama, June 1, 2020. The Ministry of Culture announces the four photo works that have been awarded the "My History Account" contest with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (BID).

The users of @ accesoriosclemen accounts with his photo entitled "Teachings of Life" in his activity category; @ sebastianautism in his photo of people with his work "Sebastian at Boca La Caja"; "The Green face" of @ cooks with a recipe in his objects category and "The new favorite corner" of @ fryas in his group of spaces have been winners of this contest.

The Qualifying Jury did a preselection of best photos by category from a total of 80 jobs chosen to proclaiming a winner and three honorary mentions for each category.

It was reported that the winning photos will be posted to the MiCultura Instagram account to conduct an public vote that will highlight the favorite photo by Social Media users.

The Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro, expressed his satisfaction with the quality of each photo and reiterated the importance of promoting values and solidarity through artistic and cultural expressions.

"with initiatives such as My History Account we want to help maintain, promote and expand human relations, generating empathy, solidarity and awareness at these uncertain times," she remarked.

In relation to the importance of this contest, institutions such as BID recognize the role of culture and historic memory in social transformations.

The project was supported by the Office of the First Lady of the Republic, Yazmin Colón de Cortizo and the Association of Photologists of Panama. Also, UNESCO with the # Resiliart movement supported this cultural initiative.
