MiCultura and Antai share experiences about anti-bribery management and compliance standards

Panama, May 29, 2020.-Directivas and personnel of the National Authority for Transparency and Access to Information (Antai) have been given a virtual training about ISO 37001 and ISO 19600 standards related to anti-bribery management and compliance standards, dictated by the team of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), that conduct procedures to become the first state institution of the region with attestations in this type of system.

Geasmine Quesada Giutta, an advisor to MiCultura's senior office on issues of transparency and risk management, explained that these inter-institutional exchanges allow the transfer of knowledge among public officials so that through experiences with anti-bribery management and compliance regulations, ministers can have access to a whole system that guarantees better processes in their transparency actions at the State level.

"To achieve this type of certification in the region, we have to implement controls and mechanisms that minimize risks so that our officials and our institution can effectively identify and care for cases of bribe and to show that transparent and focused management can be established with a view to achieving the efficiency and efficiency of the resources entrusted to us from the public treasury with complete transparency," she said.

The Ministry of Culture is at an initial stage of process identification and collection of legal requirements applicable to the institution to achieve these attestations and to become a certified ministry, meaning that an international body with a proven reputation can conduct an audit to the ministry and attests that we effectively conduct our efforts with the highest standards of transparency and information access and have appropriate measures to avoid the risk of bribery in all its processes.
