Panamanian dancers stand out at international dance festivals

Panama once again transcends boundaries with the outstanding participation of the dancers of the National Ballet of Panama, Andrea Díaz and Edgar Santamaria at the Ballet Festival of San José, Costa Rica.

The best of his and his partners are also expected to be represented at the International Ballet Festival of El Salvador Alcira Alonso on Saturday June 4.

"That our dancers have been able to bring Panama back to international stage is an honor, a great motivation to continue their work with more impetus," emphasized Gloria Barrios, executive director of Panama's National Ballet.

He added that applause and comments received by the public who witnessed Diaz and Santamaria's participation are the best letter from a delegation after his performance.

The Panamanian couple gave, on Saturday, May 28, two put on stage, with the first "El Gallo and la Gallina," choreography by José Alberto Villamil, a stylization of the folkloric piece of the same name, which was greatly appreciated by the public who met the Eugene O'Neill Theater in the Costa Rican capital.

With the same pallet, the nationals went up to stage to propose at a second opportunity, the third event of the "Pas de Deux" of Ballet Don Quixote, a characteristic piece of classical ballet anthology and where they also took with them the flattering of a dance-loving public.

Meanwhile, Mau Navarro and Yahyr Castro will have their three-color flag to stage with the performance of the "Pas de Deux" "Flamas de Paris" next Saturday June 4, at the National Theater of El Salvador and with dancers from Nicaragua, Honduras and Russia among others.

Prior to his performance Navarro, "First dancer" from our ballet and also "Ambassador for Latin America" will be part of the guest master's panel that will teach master class to the participants of this festival.
