Afro Culture Highlights at MiCultura

MiCultura continues to highlight the Black Age through its administrative units with various activities to publicize the inputs and customs and traditions of this culture, which has enriched national history throughout the ages.
The program began with a discussion about the "Contributions from Afro-descendant women to humanity," where speaker Thaydee Gordón gave an account of how the black woman was discriminated against for a long time and what she had to overcome to professionally and be recognized within society. 

Another important feature of this activity was the Afro fashion parade by renowned designer Alex Adames, who has a 30 year and more dedicated to highlight this culture through his designs and accessories.

The artistic part of this Cultural afternoon, for the officials of MiCultura, closed with the presentation of the Ballet Folklorico Panama Fort Raza, the Orchestra of the Inter-Agency Protection Service (SPI) and the wonderful voice of Idania Dowman.

With regard to this activity, the Minister of Culture, Giselle González Villarrué mentioned that with these activities "from the ministry we highlight the important role that they have had from colonization, their fight for respect for human rights, to the manifestation of their culture and recognition of their capabilities."

"The contributions of people of African descent in our country are different: gastronomy, fashion, dances and music, you are last that entertain big and boys with their different rhythms," added González Villarrué.
