Panamanian crafts and crafts manufacture more than 10000 mascarillas

Panama, 10 May 2020. More than a hundred local artisan have been able to sell 10,000 "cover-up" masks with cover-19 with native and simply Panamanian designs, following the Health Ministry's specifications for protecting people using them.

According to Jaime Luna, National Director of Handicrafts at the Ministry of Culture, this production has exceeded the expectations of all in the artisan sector that found a way to place its innovative products amidst the Pandemic crisis that the country lives and from different provinces have been united with the call that the National Government had put them to assist them in this war with the Coronavirus.

"The results from the sales of masks, which have been more than 35,000 balboas in these first few weeks, have been a very good start for a sector that was suffering from losses once a state of emergency was decreed and we now see how small and micro-enterprise is encouraged with our support as a government," Luna explained.

It's an exemplary work with our women and men, all entrepreneurs, who seek original ways to achieve daily sustenance for each of their families that has been leading us to give them support, together with the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Authority, that joins with the initiative to work on a catalogue that facilitates the commercial vision of this undertaking so necessary for all.

The Ministry of Culture works as an attester of this great number of artisan jobs and select the best of the artisan textile manufacturing industry to present a solid sample that can be put online.
