The organization of the Tenth International Book Fair of Panama (FIL 2022) to be held from August 17 to 21 "is a faithful testimony of our ability to overcome adversity," said the Minister of Culture (MiCultura), Giselle González Villarrué.
The reference by the incumbent of MiCultura is a result of this effort that takes place jointly with the Panamanian Chamber of Book after two years of pandemic and that at this time we have been expecting the participation of authors from Europe and the Americas.
The fair will be held at the Megapolis Convention Center and will have as an honour guest to the European Union and will coincide with the 25 years of the House and 17 of the international copyright seminar.
González Villarrué reiterated to the directors of the Panamanian Book House that at MiCultura they have an ally that "with you paddle to the same goal" and recalled the establishment of 300 reading centers in communities with highest poverty within the Colmena Plan.
Orit Btesh, president of the Panamanian Book House, mentioned "Only education will change his destinies. That's what will let them have dignity and defend themselves from their lives. That's not just Panama. That's a global fact."
The event will have a varied and complete cultural program for all ages and literary tastes that includes presentations of poets, novelists and youtugs, round tables, recitals, forums, lectures with thematic themes such as social development, sex education, women in science, environment, youth and climate change among other issues.
The Fil 2022 will feature national and international writers such as: Mariana Palova, Alberto Villarreal, Claudia Ramirez, Juan David Morgan, Miguel Esteban and Cheri Lewis, among others.
This year we will again have activities of # RumboALaFIL, a project that includes a number of activities prior to the fair, that seek to expand the diversity of elements to be shown around our festival of literature. Also, we seek to bring the population closer to literary works from dynamic activities in which the main involved will be the Panamanian readers.
