MiCultura FAMILY EXCAVATIONS FAMILY "THE FAMILY"

The Vice Minister of Culture (MiCultura) Gabriel González led a tour organized by the institution to show to the media how excavations have been occurring since 2008 at El Caño Archaeological Park and have been a part of the history of the first settlers of the region.

The excavations advanced by "Fundación el Caño" reveal information about rituals and ceremonies performed by these settlers as they reveal, as excavations advance, sites such as a funeral complex, sculptures and column alignment.

Roxana Pino from MiCultura explained that the alignment of columns and a foot of stone are vestiges that tell the story of what could have been ceremonies at recollection sites during funerals of caciques.

On the tour, journalists were also able to get to know about the findings of more than 1,000 years of stories, about the culture of the first local settlers.

The El Caño Museum will have jobs in goldsmiths, ceramics, bones and precious stones and will be open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday from 8: 00 a.m. to 4: 00 p.m. with free entrance.

Research work currently takes place through the El Caño Foundation run by the archaeologist Julia Mayo with the sponsorship and co-work of the Ministry of Culture. The Park is located only 3 km from the Inter-American Road.
